My name is Kelly Brown. I’m from New Zealand, currently a senior at Syracuse University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science through the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and Magazine, News, and Digital Journalism through the Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Throughout my studies, I’ve developed a deep commitment to the principles of law, engaged citizenship, and impactful storytelling—values I’m eager to carry forward in my career. Academically, I’ve excelled in courses that challenged me to think critically and act purposefully, shaping my interest in the law, which I aspire to deepen in graduate school.

In addition to academics, I’m a Division 1 athlete in rowing. Balancing the demands of sport and rigorous coursework has instilled in me resilience, discipline, and a strong sense of teamwork. My journey also includes a pivotal decision to transfer from a previous institution to Syracuse due to restrictive education laws in Florida. This decision allowed me to pursue my education in an environment that values academic freedom and open inquiry.

Beyond the classroom, I’m involved in projects that reflect my passion for social impact and communication. From investigating the effects of potential arts funding cuts in New York to creating engaging social media content on complex topics, I aim to make a difference through my work.

My dream is to work in a field of law and international diplomacy, allowing me to combine my passion for global travel with a career that operates at the highest level. Holding dual citizenship from New Zealand and Great Britain further expands my career possibilities, and I’m eager to take advantage of these opportunities.

I hope you enjoy exploring my work as much as I enjoyed completing it!
